Rio: Young and Lovely

IPANEMA BEACH
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

I have always loved beaches, really any kind of beach. However, being from the tropics, I have been spoiled with some of the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the world. So whenever I encounter a “city beach”, it usually tends to easily fail in comparison to all the beaches I visited in the Philippines growing up.

However, I quickly discovered that Rio de Janeiro’s city beaches definitely are something else. Though the urban sprawl has taken over much of the city, I’m so glad much of its natural beauty still remains. From the rugged hills & peaks that dot its coastline to the Sugarloaf Mountain marvelously gazing over the sunseekers on its many popular beaches, including Copacabana and Ipanema.

Aside maybe from Hawaii, I can’t think of a better place that has expertly retained its raw natural allure even with the rise of its inescapable concrete jungle than the cidade maravilhosa, Rio de Janeiro 🙂
