There’s no other way to describe it – the Philippine passport sucks compared to other countries when it comes to visa-free access.
In fact, the passport was just ranked #66 out of 94 on the recently published Global Passport Power Index, tied with Mongolia. Singapore took the lead this year. Last year, it was tied for #1 with Germany, which has now come in 2nd. USA, Sweden, South Korea and many other countries are tied for 3rd.
But, don’t let this dismal ranking stop you from traveling!
There are Filipinos everywhere in the world—whether they’re OFWs, expats, immigrants or tourists. The only difference is, we can’t just pack up and travel at a moment’s notice to Paris a la Carrie Bradshaw. Our trips take SO MUCH more time and planning in comparison to others with strong country passports.
Then again, we could still be denied entry…
We won’t sugarcoat it; that is all part of the process. Even after submitting stacks of documentation, proof of funds and promissory notes that you won’t overstay—you might still encounter that dreaded word, “denial”. And until our home country gets its sh*t together, we will have to grin and bear it.
No visa? No problem!
Don’t worry though, if you really have to scratch that travel itch in a jiffy – there are still plenty of other countries you could visit – no visas required!
Here’s a quick list of places you could visit easily as a Filipino visa-free:

This is a very useful and practical post, Rob and Joli. I will make sure to share it with all my Philipppine friends. I am sure it will come in handy!
This is actually by far the most well-researched and updated list of visa-free places for Filipinos, everything is correct as far as I know. Didn’t realize Mongolia is visa free. Learned something new. Cheers!

Aw, thank you for the kind comment!
We really did work very hard on this — visa rules change all the time (especially for Africa), so researching for articles like this can be tricky. So glad readers like you appreciate it! 🙂
