You just can’t deny it—America is a fascinating country unlike anywhere else in the world.
If you’re a first-time traveler here then you should certainly start by exploring as much of the U.S. as possible. Of course, it’s hard to know where to begin on such an adventure.
America is a huge country. There are so many iconic cities and sites of incredible natural beauty that planning a trip to the States can seem like an overwhelming task. But don’t worry because I’ve made things a little bit simpler for you.
Here are three amazing U.S. places that you need to visit. Trust us on this one:
1) New York
It wouldn’t be a trip to the States if you didn’t start by seeing the brilliant state of New York. In fact, this was also Joli’s first-ever destination when visiting the USA.
To begin, of course, you’ll want to head to New York City. It may not be the capital of the U.S., but it’s often the city that first comes to mind when people across the world think of America. The culture of this city has influenced the world in terms of films, music, and other forms of media.
Additionally, the place is littered with beautiful and iconic landmarks. You need to go up the Empire State Building whilst you’re there. It might not be the tallest building in NYC anymore, but there’s something special about getting to the top of this skyscraper and staring out at the sprawling concrete jungle below.
Of course, there’s more to the state of New York than New York City. Don’t get me wrong – NYC is fantastic. You could spend weeks exploring this amazing place without running out of things to do. But you might want to broaden your horizons a little because the state of New York has so much more to it than this famous city.
You should head up to the American-Canadian border and admire the natural beauty of Niagara Falls. You could even stay at the Marriott on the Falls to get settled for your visit. There’s something wonderful about having awe-inspiring views of such a beautiful natural spectacle from your hotel window. And the three waterfalls are huge, so there’s a lot to take in. In fact, all the natural beauty in that area is worth admiring.
2) Washington D.C.
It wouldn’t really be a visit to America if you didn’t spend some time in the capital. So OK, it’s technically not a state. However, it’s an important independent area of the country since it’s the Seat of the Government of the United States.
Much like NYC, you’ll find a heap of iconic landmarks in the city of Washington D.C. The Washington Monument is an incredible piece of architecture that’s even more spectacular to admire in person than it is in photographs.
You should definitely take a tour of all the famous sites whilst you’re in the city. But once you’ve seen the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, and other iconic monuments, you should explore the heart of the city. Walk beside the beautiful Chesapeake and Ohio Canal so as to admire the natural side of this great city. There’s so much to explore in D.C.
3) California
The sunny state of California is loved by locals and tourists across the world. Still, it has more to offer than glorious beaches (that’s not to say places such as Venice Beach in L.A. aren’t well worth the visit, though). Speaking of Los Angeles, that’s definitely a great place to start when visiting this state. It’s a diverse and intriguing city.
From the bustling scene of downtown L.A. to the glitz and glamor of Hollywood Hills, there’s a lot to take in. Once you’ve taken a tour around Beverly Hills and seen the truth of Hollywood behind the veil, you should explore the “real” Los Angeles. Grand Central Market is the best place to visit for quaint restaurants and great live music in the downtown area. Try out Olio Pizzeria if you want some delicious oven-fired pizzas.
And of course, that’s only the beginning in California, there’s also the scenic beauty and diverse community of San Francisco, the beautiful wineries and landscape of Napa Valley, the over-the-top amusement parks of Anaheim and San Diego, Sta. Barbara, Solvang, Malibu and so much more…
Have you been to these places? Do you remember your first time in the USA?
